The usual career path is a bachelor's degree in psychology with a focus on criminology or criminal justice. You can also earn a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or criminology with a focus on psychology.
If you want to specialize in research or be a consultant - a Masters degree in Forensic Psychology
If you want to work with patients, you will need to acquire a PhD or PsyD. If you want a job with the government, make sure that your doctorate program is APA Accredited (APA - American Psychological Association).
