It can be. Like with any extracurricular commitment, be it sports, the arts, or a job, you have to balance your time well between school and the activity. Keep in mind that not all jobs require the same hours; perhaps if you decide you do want to work, you can start with a relatively low number of hours and see how it goes.
You might feel at first like you're falling behind, just because you don't have as much time as you're used to. But you can make it work by prioritizing your time. For example, think about whether you'd rather work (and make some money, or get experience, or whatever your motivation is) or have that extra hour/few hours a day to hang out with friends or watch TV or play video games. Maybe you can be more productive in your free time at school to get work done, and then homework won't take as long after school.

You may be able to find a job on campus which will give you the best of both worlds. Campus employers are more likely to schedule your work hours around your classes, be flexible during finals, and are closed during breaks and holidays. While an undergrad, I worked in the University's ID office and was often able to do homework while at work. Although this is not always the case, it does help with time management.

Below are my suggestions :
1. Identify a time management tool, e.g. Phone Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
2. Put in your school time first.
3. Assign the time for doing assignment, revision, projects, etc.
4. You may find some spare you can do part time work.
5. Keep some time for your leisure, friends & family gathering, etc.
Having said that, you should make sure you assign sufficient time for your school work. This is a priority now as being as student. You can consider to do part time work with flexible working hours. Also, sufficient rest is important.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

You've received some great comments from the CV Professionals. Without repeating, I'd like to add that I'm going through this right now in COLLEGE with my niece. She's involved in extracurricular activities and has a part-time job. Her Mom wants her to focus on her studies rather than her job. She love her job but, gave it up. It does help with the stress level when you have a target focus (your studies). Best of luck to you!
