Nate, as Cari suggests, careers can offer a variety of different salaries for the same job title. If you are concerned about salaries and career paths, a good resource is the government website, ONET.org. It is here that you can find a great deal of information on different employment opportunities, including salaries, job descriptions, educational requirement, etc...

You can make a good living in the technology fields. It is just a matter of finding the field and business that will make the best life for you. Consider hours, work environment/conditions, computer or hands on work, or both? Will you be working holidays, weekends, nights or regular daytime hours? There is so much information out there, you can look up almost anything using the internet. Look for jobs that fit what you want to do. Just do a search on tech jobs, and you will find all kinds. Most jobs in tech, pay more as you gain experience, because your knowledge and understanding makes you more and more valuable to the company. So if you love learning new things, technology is always changing, so you will get to see and learn it as it comes.

Teacher salaries vary a LOT, mostly between states. Public schools, because they are public institutions, publish their salary schedules. You can usually search for it, or find it through the local Board of Education. The two biggest factors in a teacher's salary are level of education and years of experience. Other factors that can contribute are special endorsements (for example in certain subjects), extra class periods (or students!), and additional duties like study halls, coaching, and extracurricular activities.
