There may be university or college programs that have a BA in arts etc as state above, but there are also just straight animation programs that you can take to get into the animation industry. It depends on what kind of animation that you are interested in getting into - 2D or 3D as one requires a lot of programming and computer knowledge more than the use of your hands/wacom tablet/drawing tablet. A lot of my past colleagues only went to 2 year college programs and do not have BAs and have been working in the industry for years. Others attended Sheridan in TO and took 3-4 year Bachelor of animation programs. Both are equally talented and prepare you for the job.

The most common would be Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), and Master of Fine Arts (MFA).
Usually, these will be in animation e.g. BA in Animation. Sometimes, they'll be a bit more obscure like Bachelor of Arts with Emphasis in Art and Technology. You'll have to research specific animation programs you're interested in, and then figure out which school, which program, and which degree is best for you.
