Dr. James’s Answer
A Bachelor of Science degree program in biology includes coursework in zoology, ecology, plant biology and microbiology. Some students might complete an undergraduate degree in biology to prepare for a graduate program that leads to a career as a physician, veterinarian, pharmacist or physical therapist. Other students complete the four-year degree to meet the requirements of a career. Whichever the case, earning a BS in biology can lead to a number of different career paths.

Lab positions, field research technicians, and teaching are a few positions. Definitely take a look at job boards on Researchgate and Linkedin, as well as the Texas A & M fish and wildlife job board, The Wildlife society, and conservation job board. For a lot of jobs in the biological field, a bachelors degree is the baseline, but the thing that becomes really important is experience with a skill or technique.

Any sort of healthcare company would be great! Research positions too... and if you'd like to go into education you can always look into science tutoring/Teaching Assistant roles.

If you’re interested in environmental biology applying to do an internship or volunteer with the Student Conservation Association is a great option! It gives you real life experience, networking opportunities, and it’s a resume builder! I did a similar program through AmeriCorps, I receive a living stipend, housing and food is paid for, I get to travel for work I’m passionate about, and I get a scholarship at the end!
