Shelby’s Answer

Hi Paige! I attended Michigan State University and gradated May 2015 with a degree in Media and Information. Prior to that title, it was called Telecommunications... and even prior to that it was called Media Arts. So anything that sounds similar to those should put you down the broadcasting track!

Justin’s Answer

Majoring in journalism or broadcasting either one would be a great way to get started in that field. Communications is the broader field you would be in at college. And in the Communications field, there are several different majors to choose from. My advice is whatever you choose, choose something that you are passionate about!! Wishing you tons of success in your future!!

Michelle’s Answer

Hello Paige T.-

I always believed that a career in broadcasting is one of the most exciting jobs !

At the university I attended, the major was called Communication Studies. It will depend on your college as the title of the major varies.

Some courses you can look forward to are basic introduction and survey classes, writing, programming, management, news casting, news writing, etc. There are various types of broadcasting and some schools may have a concentrated major as in Sportscasting, Television Production, etc. It depends on the school.

Best wishes to you in your future endeavors !
