I know that I want to help children in foster homes or those in a bad environment, but am not sure what path to take to get me there.

I want to help kids that are coming out of bad homes or that are in foster car. My main goal is to help them with their future #help

Hi Alondra,

Many different degrees and career paths are available if you want to work with foster youth, though you may be familiar with some more than others. Plenty of positions exist that can allow you to work directly with foster youth, including as a social worker and counselor. Others may focus on working with entire families or supporting change at a policy level.

Here is a URL with some information that will help you with your question -- https://www.publicservicedegrees.org/careers/helping-foster-kids/

Good luck!

Jason’s Answer

Hi Alondra,

As has been mentioned previously there are a number of professions that address these concerns. Law Enforcement is often pulled into these situations so that is one path, Child Protection Services is another. Counseling and behavioral sciences are also heavily involvedly from a mental heath and wellness standpoint. I commend you for your desire to help in this challenging and heart rending side of our society. The world will be better for your efforts.
