Hey Melissa! If you're voice is cracking you probably aren't supporting it properly. Whether you're singing or speaking as a performer, you want the origin of the sound to be coming from your diaphragm. As you train, you'll learn how to do this. A simple exercise is to bend over at the waist, forward bend style, and see what it's like singing from there. That position forces you to use your diaphragm, when you get a sense of what that feels like, try it standing up with the rest of your body relaxed. Also, before you start singing, loosen your body up. Stretch a little, do some jumping jacks, make sure you aren't carrying any tension. Finally, if it's own a higher note, make sure you're creating space in your mouth by lifting your soft palate. Right now, say "oh," like a bird in a really high pitched voice. Feel how the back of your throat lifts a little? You're in control of that, so when it's time to go into the higher part of your range, use that to ease the sound production.

Hope that helps!

When you sing use air. When you see people using the vocals they back away from the micorphone take a breathe and then continue singing. You must take a huge breathe in then when you project the voice in the exhale that will help train your voice. You may want to take voice control lessons to help you or join a free choir.

Improving singing is not an overnight process and one tip will probably not fix your pitchiness. I highly recommend teaming up with a vocal coach for a few months so they can hear where you are inhaling or exhaling incorrectly and help move you in the right direction. Your diaphragm is also a muscle, so if you train it with bad habits it's going to take a lot of work to get it to the right place again.
