How can intuition be used in business?

Intuition is advanced pattern recognition while sensing is information that is only verifiable. I know business does require logic but it's also important to see the implications of an action and it's important to speculate. I watched a video about rational intuition and I think that idea could be useful in business. Rational information PLUS information that is formed based on speculations. #business #psychology #entrepreneurship #communications #networking #social-networking #marketing-strategy

Hi Liana,

In “The America We Deserve” , Trump declares “I’ve built a multi-billion empire by using my intuition”.During a recent national address to business women in Chicago, Oprah says “my business skills have come from being guided by my inner self – my intuition”. And Gates admits that “sometimes, you have to rely in intuition”.

These famous billionaires publicly recommend the use intuition in business. But what do they mean by that? Do they even mean the same thing? And, most importantly, how can you get in on this intuition thing?

Intuition is experienced differently from person to person.

Business Intuition is not about to replace a good market research or a deep understanding of your field. But you know that there is more to it than
that. Otherwise you’d be at the top already! Trump and Oprah’s success did not come from sheer luck. Nor is it related to their super human IQ. And yet it is repeatable: they turn every project into a success. And they both admit that Intuition is their secret ingredient to sustainable success.

People who are interested in intuition tend to fall in two categories: they want to learn how to do it themselves or they are looking for a reliable Professional to do it for them. Intuition is no different than accounting: it takes time to learn. As such, most people end up doing a blend of the two approaches. They ask a consultant when they’re in a jam while they develop their own skills with an Intuition Coach.

Kushaan’s Answer

A lot of business decisions can be made with intuition, given that true innovation can't really have a basis in anything but speculation. Using intuition to become decisions requires a few considerations:

- What similar decisions have been made by others?
- What metrics are used to measure success?
- How do you reduce risk if it does not go well?
- What questions have been asked beforehand?
Thank you comment icon Hi Kushaan. Thanks so much for your answer. It was very helpful and I'll certainly keep these questions in mind when making major decisions. and of course I'll use my intuition. Liana

Tyler’s Answer

Hello Liana,

That is an amazing question, but I truly believe that most folks that put together analysis also form an intuitive opinion helping them form their overall assessment of a situation.

it can be a dramatically different story if someone were to only go based upon the statistics or gut feeling, vs someone using a combined version of intuition and informed data analysis.

I think you are on the right path with this question but like anything else experience and observation are just as important as data analysis.

I hope this helps :)
