What are the best opportunities for someone entering mechanical engineering?

I was wondering what are the good things to know beforehand what mechanical engineering offers for people. I want to know what are the kind of projects I can work on with that field in mind. Hello Gloria - Mechanical engineering offers a lot of opportunities depending on the company you chose. Rizwan highlighted an area that offers a lot of exciting opportunities for mechanical engineers and that is 3D printing and additive manufacturing. These are changing how many businesses operate today. In terms of projects, mechanical engineers that I have worked with normally start designing in a 3D computer program like AutoCAD, Solid Works or a similar program. Learning how to design in these digital tools then allows you to work with manufacturing engineers to create the product. Rizwan also mentioned different material types and that is changing right now as well - from metals to all kinds of plastics, composites - what you design then comes to life.
If you look for internships, you can work with different companies and teams to see the opportunities available first hand.
