Fred’s Answer

Do you have an idea for a business? That's the first step. Then you need to do research about where your business will be. Do you need a store front? virtual only? combination? Do you have funding, or will you need to get investors/loans? If the latter, you'll need some kind of business plan that explains what your doing and why you believe it will make money - and thus, why the investors should give you their money over giving it to someone else.

Rebecca’s Answer

Hi, do you want to start business on design? What kind of design you are interested on? e.g. interior design, fashion design, product design, etc.?
Before start a business, I would suggest you work in the business first to understand the process and business model. You can gain working experience in industry. Then, you can start your business online first before having a physical office. This can reduce your cost on initial investment and establish the client base. When your business grows and you find it you really need a physical office, you can consider to do so at that time.
Hope it works! Good Luck!

Betty’s Answer

Hi Terrance,

I think to start a business requires a lot of passion, focus, drive and tons of work. When my friend considered starting her own catering business, we were very supportive because she was a culinary whiz in the kitchen. Cooking was her number one passion. As she started to think about her business more seriously, she partnered with a nonprofit organization that helped her create her business plan, business cards, logo and website. They also connected her to clients who required catering services and a commercial kitchen. Now she is a very successful caterer and her business has grown tremendously. This is one way to get started and I think a business plan is part of the journey. Hope this helps and good luck.
