what would you have to study in college to become a NBA Analysis?

I am a really big fan of the NBA and i'm able to relate to what the analysis on T.V have to say. Also at times i have opinions that they don't discuss. #sports

Conor’s Answer

Most NBA analysts on television - who perform analysis on teams, players, games etc. - played professional basketball at some level. So having a strong knowledge of basketball is definitely a prerequisite.

Beyond that, many NBA analysts also write columns or sports blogs as well as do television. There are only perhaps several dozen jobs in the entire country for NBA analysts on TV but there are much more in newspapers, radios and online so that is something to work toward; which could eventually lead to a television opportunity.

Being an NBA analyst is a form of journalism so I would look to general journalism as well even if you think you want to eventually concentrate on covering basketball.

Researching universities that offer a bachelor's degree in journalism, sports communication, or sports management will be a great place to start. It also would help if you played the sport to better understand what will be discussed. Having a passion for sports, researching and writing stories will be a great talents to add to success in this career.
