Hi Dulce - Being a "psychologist" is a little broad. There are numerous jobs in the field of psychology but most people generally think of a psychological counselor when they are considering a career in psychology.

The average psychology salary is about $69,000 per year. I used this site as a reference: http://www.bls.gov/ooh/life-physical-and-social-science/psychologists.htm

If you are interested in finding out about the other opportunities in the field of psychology, you can check out this site as well: http://www.onetonline.org/find/quick?s=psychologist. This will give you a better understanding of the differences between jobs.

After looking at this information, let me know if you have any additional questions.

Good Luck!

I echo Scott's answer. Additionally, having a degree in Psychology can help you in getting a job in HR, UX, research, becoming a manager, etc. Many of these jobs can be in the industries that are considered the ones where salaries are very nice. However, if I were you I would also ask myself what other motivation I have to become a psychologist :) of course, money is important, but especially being a therapist comes with great responsibility.
