Remember life is 99 percent Perspiration an one percent Inspiration so pursue what you love! (Old college professor gave me that insight/advice)
That one percent will drive you to succeed.
BUT you still need to go approach things with a good understanding of reality.
For marine sciences here still really isn't much there. It is still very much a niche job market and not high paying -a PhD would help getting more money but even then the market is still tough and hard to break into.
If just Love it and not concerned about the money then get the degree but be smart and do dual major to have something else to fall back on.
I loved it but got a dual major in biology as I'm passionate about science.
So when I couldn't break into the marine science arena, that paid enough to actually live off of, I got into pharmaceutical research as a scientist developing drug to treat diseases.
Pharmaceuticals jobs are well paying and good career choice- I'm in pharma now over 30 years.
This has allowed to pursue my passions in science,do a lot of scuba diving and keep marine aquariums to help satisfy my marine science needs, and still live a decent life.
Cheers
