What to major in in order to be a lawyer?
I've heard many things you should major in to be a lawyer such as pre-law, criminal justice, and psychology; which one is best? #college #lawyer #majors

The good news and bad news is that there is no right answer to your question. Being an attorney typically involves a lot of reading, writing and research, so those are the skills you should focus on in college. I studied communication as an undergraduate and I think that gave me an excellent foundation for law school. Offhand, I know of other people who majored in communication, business, liberal arts (including psychology, history and political science), religious studies, computer science and biology, who are all now successful attorneys. If you have an interest in engineering or computer science, but want to be an attorney, I would strongly recommend that you pursue a science, technology or engineering degree before law school because that can open up a lot of opportunities to practice intellectual property law. Ultimately, you should study something you're truly interested in and find engaging and challenging. While working towards your undergraduate degree, you should also try to work or intern in the legal field, whether at a law firm, district attorney's office, legal aid nonprofit, or elsewhere, which will help you decide whether the legal field is a good fit. Good luck!
