Kyerra,

I’m not sure where you live, but most public schools are associated with the area you live. Most of the schools around me offer STEM programs, but if they don’t make sure you take all the math, sciences and engineering/design courses you can. Also join clubs that solve problems and practice working on projects and teams. If you have good grades and have taken challenging courses you should do just fine getting into an engineering college/university. They are may good engineering schools, so don’t get infatuated about going to top 10 schools. I’ve hired many great engineers from state universites with good engineering programs.

Hi. Kyerra J. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

For sure, going to a high school that has a STEM program will help your chances of getting a quality university education. I will add, though, that it is how you perform in these programs that really make the difference. I couldn't tell whether or not you have an actual interest in majoring in a STEM curriculum, but based on your hashtags, I will make the assumption that the desired major, in going to a top university, is STEM-related.

Your grades in math, science, phyisics, a STEM program, will carry a lot more weight than simply having a STEM program at your school. Another item that carries a lot of weight is what you wish to study. Deciding on a major does take time and research but having a background in STEM-related work can help guide your path on that journey.

Hope you find this response helpful. Best of luck to you!
