Nicole’s Answer

I realize I wanted to be a psychologist when I was 6 years old, and continued to have that affirmed throughout my life. I wanted to help people reach their potential. Additionally, I had a knack for reading people and understanding the why. I knew that I loved helping people, but would get too emotionally involved in individuals and that it would hurt me to not be able to help those who would not accept it. Therefore, I decided to go to the business side of psychology, Industrial and Organizational psychology to be specific. I know have my PhD in Applied Organizational Psychology and am currently working in Human Resources. Usually if you have an interest or passion in psychology, it is an incredible degree to have because it can be applied to most jobs in life and therefore it also provides you with stability and options!

Haley’s Answer

Hi, Beth

For me, it was 10th grade when i took AP psychology for the first time! I fell in love with the very first unit of abnormal psychology as we discussed how the brain can simply do and think different things and function different ways that do not seem "normal" to the "average" person. Despite that, it just makes sense to that person, and I was absolutely fascinated. Currently, I am a junior in college and I have made Psychology myy second degree (the first being Biology), and I am intending to go to medical school to become a physician. Psychiatry is a really big option for me all because I signed up for AP Psychology at 16 years old!
