That's up to you!

That's a niche field, for which the schooling could be very expensive. The only fashion graduate I know of is a niece of a coworker - she went to a nice private school, accrued a couple of hundred thousand dollars in debt, and is struggling to find a job that can pay back those loans in a field that she wants. I think that after a couple years of job searching she's finally making headway as a buyer for a clothing line. That's something, but it's not the sort of creative work that she dreamt of doing.

It's just a matter of risk vs reward. I would absolutely recommend that, if you pursue this career, you should throw yourself into your studies, extracurriculars, a less-niche minor or double-major to broaden your career opportunities and demonstrate how hard you're working to better yourself.

Creative fields are competitive, and if you want to win then you'll need to work *very* hard.

There's also the option of pursuing this as a minor - the internet's a wonderful thing, and starting your own Etsy-type enterprise is absolutely a possibility.

Good luck!

Hi Nadia,
Design is action-driven. The best way to answer this question is for you to start or participate in fashion design projects and get to experience all the part of the design process.
You'll see that designing is not only about creating a dress, but it involves knowing your users, understanding the market, innovating with styles and materials and getting to put your product out there.
Try to work out a personal project and this will give you a new perspective and guide towards deciding to go to fashion design school, or just leaving this passion as a side time activity.
