Lyonne’s Answer

Well, speaking from personal experience, this a very good question to ask. I have been a female officer in a very busy urban city, in my current squad, I am the only female that responds to assignments that come in. Many times I can de-escalate the situation and I feel that it is because a woman brings on a certain presence about her. Its also very easy for female victims of domestic or assault to talk to me. Now there is also much a woman deals with working in male dominant world, the conversations you hear, and at times the way you are treated. But I am happy I choose this career and I hope law enforcement becomes an equal environment when it comes to men and women.
