Hi Deandre,
I am sure your mom will miss you but will be proud of your accomplishments. Facetime makes it easy to connect these days and you can always visit her or send her text/mail to remind her that you are thinking about her. I am a mom and would be very excited for my son to venture off to college... but just like any change, it takes time to get used to. She will be happy for your success and your time spent together when you visit will be extra special.
Best of luck to you!

Hi Deandre, you are so sweet to be concerned about your mom. She must be so very proud of you for going to a four-year school! I was very close with my mom before heading off to college and made sure to stay in touch with daily texts, regular phone calls, and sharing lots of photos on social media with her! We also made some really incredible memories together when she came to visit me during those four years. When she visits you, make sure you take her to your favorite spots around campus so she can get a sense of what your new life is like away from home!

Firstly, congratulations on your achievement! Super excited for all that you'll accomplish!!
Yes, your mom will miss you, and like the others have said, she will be super proud of you! Try and keep her in the loop about what you're doing - the friends you've made, the food you're eating, something interesting you've learned. Maybe schedule an hour a week for a chat or catch up. My mom made me at her on Facebook!
Four years will pass by in a blast!!

Hi Deandre. When I was away from home studying at college my mom and dad were kept busy reading my fortnightly letters detailing what I was doing at college and the YMCA hostel where I was living. In return mom and dad replied and we had a great time reading each others news. This was in the days before computers were invented. My mom and dad used to often tell me "you will miss us when we have gone". So Deandre that's why its important to touch base with family and keep on writing a family news diary each day. Best wishes and Good luck with your studies. Check out here: https://www.careervillage.org/users/74836/Frank

When my first child went off to college, I admit I was emotional and a sad.
But, as a mom, I understood that he was starting his life's journey and was happy for him.
This understanding outweighed my desire to want him to stay back with me.
All in all, as parents we want what's best for our children.
Pursue your dreams and your mom will be okay and happy with that.
