Hi Parker S. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.
One of the biggest positives that I think exist in STEM careers is the abundance of tools and skill sets that can be gained. I also think this is one of the biggest challenges. The beauty of innovation is that it expects that there will be something that changes how people do what they do. Sometimes those changes are subtle but sometimes they are life changing for instance life before smart phones :). Most of us cannot imagine what life was like before apps and smart phones. But many of us had to learn how these new awesome things worked...before we called them awesome :). So keeping up with change and innovation can be a challenge in the STEM space. Finding a way to celebrate these changes can be a way to overcome those challenges.
Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!

Hi Parker! First of all, it is great that you are beginning to think about your future. I'm an engineer and have been working in the STEM field for quite some time, and I think pursuing a STEM career is only full of opportunities. The primary challenge is deciding what path you want to take....computer science, engineering, data science, etc., but don't let this challenge stop you.
It is a good idea to pick an area that you feel passionate about and ask yourself a few questions....
1. What classes or subjects do you like now in high school?
2. How you do you like to solve problems? ..... by doing and experimenting?.... by visualizing and directions?.....by practicing and then doing? and 3. What type of problem solving environment do you like now or see yourself in the future? in a laboratory? in the field? in an office? with a group or on your own?
Overall STEM careers offer you many different paths, but stay flexible and don't be afraid to try a new path if the one you're on is not your passion! Best of luck to you!

Hi Parker,
As someone in the STEM field. I think one of the main challenges are that it's not a cookie cutter or redudant job. The challenge and bonus are that you get to be creative. There's always room to be innnovative and think of outside of the box. I find that in the STEM field one day is different from the next. There is a lot of problem solving solutions. If you like fixing problems or finding unique solutions. This would be a great field for you.
Best of luck to you
