Hi Kyle! This is a great question! I have realized there are many ways to go about this career path. You could create your own business if you have an entrepreneurial mindset. Likewise, another option would be to start begin in a career for a company or a firm and learning as much as you can from those few years, then you could implement what you have learned and start your own business. There are many other ways to go about this, I would highly recommend doing your own research and going from there. Wishing you all the best!

Hi Kyle,
I would recommend that you look at the highest paying virtual jobs as a place to start. Many of these types of jobs are flexible enough to allow you to make your own hours. I have one of those jobs, instructional designer. Now I do have hours since I work for a specific employer, however, some designers work on a consulting basis. Consulting can give you that flexibility since deadlines are more important than daily hours.
Your biggest challenge with these types of jobs is being highly skilled in whatever you choose. Consultants can often earn a lot but talent and skill count a lot. Since choosing your own hours can also mean that you may be working alone a lot, you also have to have a lot of self discipline to get things done on your own.

I applaud you for thinking about a career at such a young age. It is a good thing to ruminate on what you would like to do in the future. I particularly have this idea that when you first start a career it is best to work for someone so that you can learn leadership skills and get a 'feel' for what you might enjoy. Working as an entrepreneur is very difficult when you start out with very little experience.
My suggestion to you is that you attend college, take a degree that you would really enjoy, and work part time to get some experience. When you graduate from college, spend 2 to 3 years working in the field that you like for someone who you can gain experience from. This is the ultimate way to find your passion and then begin to start out working on your own. Don't think too much about making a lot of money at the beginning of your career. If you work hard, enjoy what you are doing, you will become motivated. If you are motivated, believe me that is when you will start to be very successful and make a lot of money.
What I have suggested to you is simply from my own experiences in life and hope I have stimulated your thought process a bit. I wish you the best Kyle.

Helllllloooo Kyle S. Sharing my thoughts as a fellow New Yorker...and a person that was 16...a little while ago :).
Good for you for thinking about this at your age. There are many sustainable jobs where you can work your own hours and make a good amount of money. In general, the better you are at what you do, specifically the better your results, the more of an expert you can become in your field. With a certain level of expertise, comes trust from business partners and clients. Strong results, expertise and trusted partners are a good recipe for making good money AND for building a sustainable career.
As you are thinking about what your desired job would be, be sure to continue to challenge yourself on understanding what you like, what you do well and what you are willing to do to be the best at your work. You will likely also uncover that "making good money" at 16 has many differences to "making good money" at 30+...so think not only about today but how you build your success path for your future.
Hope you find this answer helpful and best of luck to you!
