There are many different branches of PT jobs and i would like to go into orthopedics, is that the best route to go?

I just want to know that I will be successful in my job, and I really like the anatomy of the bones and muscles, so I think orthopedics is the right path for me to go. #science #graduate-school #physical-therapy #orthopedics

I really appreciate your ambition and interest towards bone anatomy and aspiring to be a orthopedic, it is a very interesting job, needs lot of dedication, and you must posses a strong heart and mind to deal with patients, who come with a broken bone, you should handle them and to handle one's pain is very difficult to seem them in such a state, so be prepared to handle the more vulnerable patients, and prepare yourself to deal with all of them

You should pursue what interests you the most. All types of opportunities in medical field are interesting and challenging and rewarding. . Listen to and talk to as many folks as you can. Absorb all this input and go with what your own gut feeling tells you. So, go with the decision what your own mind tells you. If down the road you feel you need to change then do so. The key is to stay focused on your goals and not get dis-hearted or discouraged along the way. Ups and downs are inevitable, this is part of life. However, stay focused with a can do mind set. Good Luck! I know you will succeed

Elise’s Answer

Orthopedics is a common area of practice to go into. In order to be a good PT in any area, you need a solid knowledge of anatomy. I did not decide to do pediatrics until after my clinical internship in PT school. I'd say 80% of PT students think they want to do orthopedics, and maybe 40-50% actually end up in that area. Shadow some PTs in various settings and see what seems the most interesting to you!
