There is a lot of pressure on young people to go to a big name university. I suggest going to a local junior college for your freshman year. The basic classes are the same at every school. That way you can save money, and have the basics out of the way before you make a decision about a four year college. Also, you will be more confident about a major and what classes to take to reach your career goals. Think about what is best for you. Good luck.

Go on the college field trips and the virtual college interviews and one of the first questions you should ask is about the emphasis on graduate programs. Don't be afraid to ask invasive questions - it's your money you're talking about.
I was on a tour with my son and we went to a pricely liberal arts college whose sole focus was on undergraduates, so they were in the running.
Personally, I'm a fan of any school with a co-op or good post-graduation placement program. As I explained to my sons (freshman and sophomore in college), there's no sense in going to a school that isn't going to help you find a job.
