A day for a Software engineer can be very different depending on the type of company you are working at, project at hand, the type of role you are in, but I think here are some commonalities:

1) Solving problem: every day, every task is about solving problems. This can range from debugging an issue in your program, learning to integrating with a new technology, building a component for your project, etc.

2) Communicating: on a daily basis, you will interact with a lot of people, be it having a meeting with colleague, discussing product ideas with your product manager, presenting your project to the team.

3) Time management: Often times, you will have multiple projects at hand, how to use the time strategically and being able to unblock yourself is super critical.

Hope this is helpful! And good luck :)

A day in the life of a programmer is pretty great compared to a lot of fields. There is a lot of great work culture for a lot of big tech companies where you can work standard hours and wear whatever you want. This is very different from law or entertainment where there is a lot of unspoken culture about being the last in the office and that your value is just based on how hard you work. It also is pretty creative work that is always changing so you never get bored. And ofcourse it's a pretty supple field so finding work is less stressful than other fields.
