Biotechnology is quite an interesting field and one that has the ability to make a wider impact on mankind! The wide concept of biotechnology encompasses a wide range of procedures for modifying living organisms according to human purposes, going back to domestication of animals, cultivation of the plants, and "improvements" to these through breeding programs that employ artificial selection and hybridization. Modern usage also includes genetic engineering as well as cell and tissue culture technologies. Depending on the area of your liking you can specialize in Agricultural biotech, biofuels, bio manufacturing, cell culture, drug discovery, forensics , genomics etc.
Below link provides details to each of the specialization and career pathways you can pursue. All the very best :)

Hello!
Jobs in the biotech industry can vary from helping making new medical devices and equipment to helping manufacture new pharmaceutical drugs. In biotech you really deal with virtually anything medical or biology related that has to do with living organisms. There is a lot of work being done in this field as the average life expectancy increases year over year. Because of this there is more need for biotech products that help support general degenerative disease. For example the orthopedic industry is beginning to see an increased demand for implants in older patients because simply there are more of them than 10-20 years ago and they are more apt to fracturing something if they are to fall. Also you have diseases like osteoporosis a degenerative bone disease that makes bone very weak and more susceptible to break so simply the fact that people are living longer has caused industry to change their approach to support that new market of people.
Hope that helps!
