ERIC’s Answer
Edurado, Hello, while I am not a landscape architect, I can tell you here in Georgia they are very popular. They charge very high prices for their services, it's like anything else in life. If you work hard and provide a quality service to your customers you will always be successful in anything you do.

It all depends on what type. There is a very wide range of what landscape architects do.
There are definitely hot spots where you make more but usually it's because of the increased cost of living. .
Landscape architecture is best described as anything between an architect and a civil engineer.
In order to truly make the most you will need to be licensed in whatever state you work. There are some websites out there that do give active salaries for careers throughout the US. So check out of some of them.
I am a license landscape architect in Michigan, but I am unique in that I also have a degree in horticulture. One of the first things that I have noticed is that landscape architects don't know plants. They know the shape and size they are looking for but have very little knowledge on how the plants grow and the plants needs. I am a freelance designer because I frankly didn't like working in a firm. I set my own schedule and learn and take on what I want to do and charge what I want, but have been licensed for 14 years. Working for 28 years. I market myself to builders and installers so,I have knowledge of the install process too. All these parts allow me to work on high end (million dollar landscape) residential designs, which allow me to be as creative as I want.
