Isaias’s Answer

Learning English can indeed be challenging, and there's a chance that others might poke fun at our attempts, but don't let that deter you. Here's a practical approach to mastering English:

1) Resist the urge to rely on a translator.
2) Tune into news broadcasts and political speeches on television.
3) Immerse yourself in reading books.
4) Regardless of my Catholic faith, I made it a habit to read "OUR DAILY BREAD" website daily. You might find it helpful too.

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question.
Practise makes perfect! Learning a language, it can divided into 4 aspects : reading, speaking, listening and writing.
Reading - You can read more different english articles, magazines, novels, newspapers, etc.
Speaking - Speak to the native English speakers like your English teacher, etc.
Listening - Watch English Movie, TV Shows, radio, etc.
Writing - Try to write anything in English everyday, e.g. Journal, Story, article, etc.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Dawn’s Answer

Hello - I would start by using free apps and also listen to music and tv shows. If you have friends who speak English I would also practice using a new phrase with them each day.

Brandon’s Answer

Read plenty of material from children level to normal books, magazines, or blogs. This can help you steadily increase the amount of knowledge towards the language and build up your ability to comprehend the language better.

Practice speaking the words using tools or references that come from shows or movies. Knowing the language is different from being able to properly speak the language. There are many people that know how to correctly say a word or phrase, but when they try to speak it, they are unable to make out the correct sounds. Repeat speaking some words over multiple times in order to have a better grasp on what the words actually mean.

Srilu’s Answer

Learning a new language when you aren't a child anymore can be challenging. There are some tricks that you can use that will make picking up the language easier and more enjoyable.

Srilu recommends the following next steps:

1. Watch movies, shows in the language you are trying to learn. A lot of Netflix shows for example come with subtitles (in German, Spanish etc.)
2. Read children's story books - the words and sentences are simple.
3. Make a list of the 50 most commonly used English words and refer to it often. As you progress, you can keep adding more to this list.

Jacob’s Answer

Try to watch English-language shows or movies with subtitles in your native language. Depending on the quality of the subtitles, though, this may not give you an accurate LITERAL translation, since obviously different languages may express things differently. One idea would be to find YouTube channels with auto-generated subtitles in your native language, since those would probably be a more literal translation and easier to compare to your native language.

2. Watch English movies/ TV series with subtitles.
3. listen to at least one or two English songs.
4. When you speak to yourself, try to speak in English/ You may call customer care/ any other person who is comfortable to speak English
5. If possible try to study some English grammar as well.
6. On every alternate day try to write a daily diary. When you will read this after 3-4months, you will be able to track your growth by yourself. If you would like to write on your computer, you may use any software similar to Grammarly as well.
