Why should I consider Graphic Design?

A question I had before majoring in Graphic Design. I am sure alot of highschool or college students interested in GD will be asking a similar question to this.

I agreed with Hyam, the term Graphic Design is an old title. Most universities call graphic design to visual design now. I just graduated recently at San Francisco State University with Visual Communication Design. Being a graphic designer is a good choice as a career, you don't have to go to office to work when you become excellent in it. Nowadays, design work could falls towards to product design, motion graphics, and UI/UX design.

I guess the questions you should ask yourself is, do I like designing projects? Am I creative? Do I love drawing and doing artistic work?

Hyam’s Answer

Hi! I would actually look into Visual Design. Graphic Design is now a pretty old title. Graphic Designers have been pushed to the lower end of the pay scale with the new technologies and introduction of UX Design, UI Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, and Voice Design. Graphic Designers are now the ones doing less work in the Design world, and tend to have one-off projects or tasks. If you're very passionate about design, I would highly encourage you to explore Visual Design as it's progressive, and adapting.
