Is it difficult to get a job right out of college?
I am currently wanting to go to the University Of Davis in California but I don't want to not be able to pay rent for a apartment or anything like than because I am not from California I currently am living in Indiana. So I am just asking how hard it was to get a job. Thanks. #college #job-search #veterinarian

Hi Layla,
My answer in short: Yes and no, depending on the job you're vying for. The good news? You have 4+ years to figure out how best to secure a (good/well paying enough) job post graduation. How? Hone in on what it is you want to do for a living through trial and error in part time jobs, internships, speaking with people who do different jobs in different industries and fields, and in participating in clubs and other extra curricular activities throughout your four years of college.
For me, it was difficult to find a job out of college not necessarily because there weren't any jobs out there but because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I was picky and confused. In hindsight, I wish I would have spent more time trying to figure that out during/throughout college rather than relying heavily on figuring it out as I was job hunting post grad. First off- MAJOR kudos to you for starting to think about this now. It's extremely mature of you to do. Your ability to think and plan proactively and to be thoughtful about your career and its implications on your life will serve you well - I promise!!
Do you know for certain you'd want to stay in California post college? After four years, you may choose to either go back to your home state or elsewhere depending on your quality of work/life preferences at the time, desire to be close to family, career limitations on location, etc. If you do know for certain you'd like to live in CA long term, I'd figure out how much, on average, it is to live in that city. Do you have an idea of what you might want to do career wise? I'd love to hear more and to be able to help further!
