Hey Kyana!
Becoming a lawyer usually takes 7 years of full-time study after high school—4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3 years of law school. Most states and jurisdictions require lawyers to complete a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).

To become a lawyer, it takes a Bachelor's Degree (4 years) and then 3 years for law school. Then you will need another few months to take a bar review course, take the bar exam and wait for your results. There are a few ways to try and shorten this process. The main way is many high schools offer classes where you can get college credit so I would sign up for as many of those as you can. This saves you money and time. Also when in college you can take summer classes so you can finish early or at least in 4 years, as many students take 5 years to obtain their 4 year Bachelor degree. Also, some colleges that also have law schools, but not many, may allow you to enroll in a joint program that might count certain classes for both college and law school. There are a few that also have joint programs for a MBA and JD so certain classes count for both degrees.
Since you are still in high school, I would focus on trying to take as many classes where you can earn college credits.
Best of luck!

Hi Kyana:
As noted before, undergrad is 4 years and law school 3. However there are several programs that offer combined undergrad and JD in one course of study. US News and World report is a likely place to start for information on these programs. It is important to understand that these programs are likely intense and you should really investigate if that would be the best course for you. Also remember, think about where you might like to live. Each state is responsible for licensing lawyers and to be efficient, it is important to understand those requirements in light of the schooling you select.
