Hi there! There are several certification courses available currently and if you want to pursue your career as a cybersecurity engineer, you may opt either for a bachelor's and/ or Master's degree in the course. There are several institutes that have cybersecurity specific degree course. You may start looking for list of such institutions like in this page here:-

Other than that there are various bootcamps and certification courses available online for example from Google, Microsoft to name a few that you might check and career prospects that come along with them.
Hope it helps 😊

Hi Jeaneille,
At least in the USA, you will look for a Bachelor degree or Master of Science degree in computer science/engineering with courses focused on cyber security. That is usually what employers are looking.
I did not study in the USA so I can't be more detailed on courses and universities, but as a recruiter/interviewer, I never saw any one with less than a Bachelor degree in computer science reaching me for interview. Higher degrees (Master, PhD) are of course accepted.

As stated by others, getting college training in this field should be the first step. Almost all cyber security individuals that I know, received various certification after college, when they started working.
Thank you that is a great information

Hi Jeaneille,
A degree in cybersecurity or computer science is always a good place to start. There are many types of courses and bootcamps you can get involved in during your time in school that will help prepare you for the roles you are targeting. You don't need a certification but the Security+ certification from CompTIA is a good place to start should you want to go that route as well!
The best thing I could suggest is to start looking into internships or roles with companies where you can gain some experience. While there are a shortage of professionals in the cybersecurity space, there is a lot of entry-level candidates looking for roles. Any hands-on experience you can get will definitely help to set you apart when you start submitting applications!
