I am glad to hear you are interested in photography. There are a number of majors that you can consider, e.g. multimedia, design, arts, etc. It really depends on the offering in the college.
For example, the multimedia course is offered in many universities. Some courses covers technology, some courses covers design, etc. You may need to explore more on the course details offering by different institution and determine which one suit your interest.
On the other hand, the universities may organize information day to introduce their courses. You can find out more and speak to the university staff/professors to understand more on the subject. That can help you to choose the right course you would like to attend.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Good Choice. Photography itself is offered as a major in many universities and also in your local community colleges. Depending on your financial situation you can decide if you want to start with your community college and then move to the university.
I am a pretty good amateur photographer in addition to my professional job. I learnt most of it online, free.

Before you proceed that far I recommend the following based on my own experience:
1. Start classes in photography in your High School. If they do not offer see if the school will help take some classes at the local community college or vocational school.
2. Technology is changing rapidly. Film cameras are gone. Digitial SLR cameras are almost dying. It is all about Mirrorless cameras now. Invest and buy a digital Mirrorless camera. It will last a long time. There are many brands Nikon, Canon, SIgma, Sony etc which are all very good.
3. Start looking for photography lessons on Youtube. Just type "Photography Lessons". There are many and many of them are actually better than the couple of classes I took in college.
4. Go to the library and pick up some books on Photography. Do not buy them. Things are changing and they will be outdated before you know. You would have wasted money.
5. Learn basics of photography, light control, lenses, cameras, studio setting etc. You will find everything you need to learn and become a master.
6. You may want to go to college and still do a photography major, with a minor in Business or Finance so that you can understand how to market your photography skills and make a good living.
7. Get out with your camera and practice your skills.

And Best Of Luck!

Hi Nadia! If you're interested in photography, you could look into film/video as well! This way you could expand your knowledge and have a bit more flexibility in case you have a hard time getting clients.

Hi Nadia! Photography is such a fun route to go into! If you know it's the ONE thing you want to do with your life, I would definitely go right for it, but consider other rounded options too, like Digital Arts or Design, or Film & Media. I went into the DA route and learned so much about photography (I didn't go into it professionally, but I learned enough to sustain some side hustles every now and then) but I learned about a lot of other medias like animation, coding, graphic design, etc. Photography fortunately isn't something you're required to have a degree in (depending on the field you're going into, of course; photojournalism isn't necessarily a degree-less option) so excelling in photography while learning other similar creative fields is also a route.
