Hi Shae,
I majored in Accounting in College and did a lot of research on the pay before I went to a different direction in my career.
The average entry level accountants according to ZipRecruiter is 41,178 for CA and for your state it is 34,363.
The mid level accountant is about 51k
The Senior level accountant makes roughly 75k-92k.
You will need an accounting degree to become a CPA and I believe it will cost you roughly 1,000 to take all the CPA Exams.
CPA will make more money on average vs someone with just an accounting degree.
Good article below to highlight the differences:

Hope this helps,
Good luck!

This depends on where you live and work. Also on your experience. As an entry level accountant you could expect to make $40,000-50,000 per year. If you have a bachelor's degree its also worth considering working toward passing the CPA exam. This will help you in the long run because you can work in public accounting or private accounting after gain experience. Having a CPA license is very beneficial and will allow you to earn and even higher salary.

It's hard to give an exact answer for a question like this. There are so many factors like the current job market, country and city you live in, and the exact accounting specialty you're interested in (this can range from forensics to personal tax returns). I would suggest using a site like Glassdoor (https://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm). Sites like Glassdoor are basically an anonymous form of social media for professionals to discuss salaries and the workplace environment.
Visit Glassdoor! (https://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm)
Search for your desired job; in this case, "accountant".
Read about other accountant's experiences and see salary ranges.
