What kind of job do you think would be best for my kind of personality? I'm still not 100 percent sure of the job I want to do so is there any ideas?
I'm pretty outgoing, never afraid to speak in front of others, but I'm not sure about any jobs yet. #job #job-search #college #career #career #student

Hi Jonathan,
If you enjoy speaking in front of others you could try joining a speech and debate club in high school or college or both. This is something I wish I had done as the people I know who did are now excellent at public speaking. The skills you develop in speech and debate will be applicable in many different careers.
As for choosing a career path for someone outgoing and who is comfortable speaking in front of people I would suggest looking into Marketing, Public Relations and Communications. There are many different tracks you could take in these fields, but they almost all would compliment your described personality type. Social Media Marketing and Management are highly in demand at the moment as well as Digital Marketing and they can be really fast paced and exciting fields. Also keep in mind that if you do choose to go down one of these paths that your writing skills will be just as important as your speaking skills. Taking some creative writing classes or starting a blog on your own are great ways to practice your writing skills as well.
Good luck!

Jonathan, I can give you some perspective because I was the same as you growing up. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do (I assumed some Finance field) but I loved talking to people and was always comfortable speaking/presenting in front of others. So when I decided to major in Accounting, I didn't think at the time that career path would lead to a job where I need to rely on my personality and charisma as much as I do the technical piece. But it has! And as I grow more in my company and take on more responsibility, the more I will need to effectively and efficiently communicate and nurture relationships. Now, I would guess that many who answer this question would recommend Sales, Marketing, Teaching, etc. - which are all great careers, but an outgoing, shy-free person can make a fulfilling living doing so many jobs that you may not realize require that type of personality.
Now, I would advise you to start thinking about what motivates you and the type of work you may enjoy doing. And remember, a great personality is a benefit in any career path.

I know a career in sales can be really fulfilling for people who are very outgoing. You role will be centered around the connections you can build with your clients, and a lot of the role is being able to empathize with people and their problems and see how your products can help them out. Plus, if you're good at it you can make a lot of money in sales commissions.

I agree with both posts. Also, over time, the roles and responsibilities you have can change significantly.
If you do great work and develop leadership skills as well as possibly being asked to take on additional responsibilities, the opportunities you can be a viable candidate for will expand.
