Electric Vehicles (EVs) and all the electronics as well as battery technology that enables them. The White House is pushing the industry to https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/biden-set-target-50-evs-by-2030-industry-backs-goal-2021-08-05/ have half of US cars be electric by 2030.
Along with this comes computer and Artificial Intelligence technology that will allow cars to be self driving at some point.
In my opinion, the highest paid opportunities will be on the high voltage battery/drive unit side which current cars don't have. The other car electronics are 12V and very similar to existing cars. Also, on the AI programming side for autonomous driving.

Hi Manuel,
I agree that hybrid and electric cars will be the future in the automotive industry. However, still so many individuals currently prefer to drive gas powered cars. I advise you to get an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences for Automotive Technology.
I worked with a young man who got his A.A.S from a community college and went on the become a master automotive technician aka Jouneyman and makes a 6 digit salary now. His dealership also paid for his ASE tests so he can get all his ASE certifications. It’s very important to pass all the ASE’s during your automotive technology career. I hope this was helpful.
Good luck in your career Manuel!
