Hi Nathan,

Great question! With respect to coaching, you don't necessarily need a degree in a particular field in order to become a coach. Your education should accompany actual coaching duties whether it's volunteering to coach little league or high school, etc. A close friend of mine spent one year volunteering as a high school junior varsity offensive coordinator. The next year he was able to get a paid, part-time position assisting the varsity team.

With that said, there are opportunities to study coaching at the college level. Some examples include:

United States Sports Academy
Bachelor of Sports Science
https://ussa.edu/academics/programs/bachelor-of-sports-science/

University of Southern Mississippi
Bachelor of Science in Sport Coaching Education
https://www.usm.edu/undergraduate/sport-coaching-education-bs

West Virginia University
Bachelor of Science in Athletic Coaching Education
http://cpass.wvu.edu/academics/bachelors/ace

I would encourage you to explore other fields of study including kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, etc.

I hope this gives you a good starting place, but please continue to post your questions.
