Hello,
It depends on the state you live in or choose to work in what the salary will be. It also depends on if you work in a more urban area or if you are in a suburban area, if you in a public school or a private school, what your education background is like- do you have a Bachelor’s or Master’s- and how long have you been doing it. So many different factors are going to determine what your salary looks like. Your working conditions will depend on the school you are at. For instance charter schools can be a little different from the public schools. Your hours will TYPICALLY involve you starting 30-45 mins before the scholars arrive and leaving 30-45 mins after they leave. Your duties will depend on your role. If you are a teacher you would have a bit more obligations that someone who might not teach but working in the school. Teachers are responsible for planning the lessons and curriculum for their scholars. They have teach the scholars of course, find ways to have inclusive learning for all scholars (meaning because no one child learns the same “how can I ensure I am meeting the needs of all learners while I am teaching”). They create tests or exams, they do grades, etc. In Middle school and high school you are teachers have a specific content they are teaching (math, science, ELA, art, etc) rather than teaching all subjects.
If you are interested in becoming a teacher for middle school or high school you would want to look at schools with education as a major and also maybe you want to dual major (pick something else like Math or English to go along with that). This would be your starting point. You will always be able to find a teaching job and eventually you can find a school that fits with your values. Good Luck! And I hope you decide to pursue education! We can always use more teachers! =)

I would suggest to concentrate on high school until you graduate then get your first job. It’s imperative to get good grades. However, I do know some students who did hold a part time job their senior year of high school but I can’t speak on if it affected their grades. I personally waited till after high school. My first job was bagging groceries. Not very glamorous but it gave me some independence. I definitely do not suggest making a middle school child work. First jobs are awesome and they teach you a lot about being responsible with your funds. Good luck!
