Rae’s Answer
Get a job in a restaurant. You can start anywhere, waitstaff, host/ess, etc. As you get familiar with the restaurant environment, offer to help in the kitchen. Make your interest in the kitchen clear to your employer so they know to take opportunities to cross train you.

Saji’s Answer
As a foodie, I would say its a great profession. I grew up in restaurants and even though I am not in that field, I developed a great passion for cooking and have a lot of respect for for that field.
The first thing you need to have is passion, anyone can cook, but having a passion for cooking will ensure that you are creative and can think outside the box, and give that special taste for your special meal.
I would say the first step is to try to master your favorite meal as a starting point, master it, meaning try to cook it quickly and efficiently, of course have someone try it out, then expand to other meals
I am a belive in self learning, but you can also take classes, and in an ideal situation specialize in a certain cuisine (i.e French kitchen, Italian, Japanese...) .
