Noisy students

I was in a class and the professor is a little bit boring so the lecture was. There was this guy sitting behind me, he was making all kind of disturbing noise. I manage to pay atte thin through the class. In another situation or if such situation repeats itself how do I go about it. Cos u want to learn, but a noisy student will cause distraction #teaching #academic-advising #professional-training

Just politely turn around, smile and say that you're trying to listen to Professor X and take notes but that you're having some difficulty doing so because of (loud talking, singing, whatever it is the person is doing to distract you). Say it with sincerity and without a sarcastic OR accusatory tone of voice.

You might want to consider sitting in a different seat, if this same person is inappropriate in the classroom most days. Sit near the front of the classroom...most students who really don't want to learn sit near the back of the room.

Hi Samson - this is a problem you will face often - very simply as my colleagues have advised - change seats! If you have the opportunity during lecture (maybe a break) change as soon as possible!

Hi!

This situation happens many times. Honestly just move your seat. You're there to learn and the last thing you want is to have to tolerate a noisy student throughout the whole semester and if it's affecting your grade then you should definitely change your seat. If you want then just ask them kindly to stop.

Like everyone else has said it would be wise to change your seat. But I would do it in a way that the teacher approves of. Some ideas are:
1. Talk with the teacher after class or in his/her office about this person and ask nicely if you can change your seat with his permission. If he says he doesn't care where you sit, then change immediately. There are a few teachers that have seating charts so that is why I suggest talking to the teacher.
2. You could also ask the person to stop the noise so that you can hear what is being said. If this doesn't work then I would also ask the teacher to talk with this person or to change that persons seat because you are unable to hear the teacher or get the lessons needed because of the noise around you. Sometimes, even though you would like to solve these problems yourself, you need to talk first with the person in charge.
3. the teacher should be in control of this situation in his class, if not it doesn't hurt to have a conversation as to what he or she could do to be more in control of the noise.
4. It is up to you to ask for suggestions, and you might want to talk with the other students around you to see how they feel about the noise level and then go to the teacher in charge. Hopefully that teacher will change a few things regarding this noise and everything will be ok.
5. These are a few suggestions that I have used in my experiences. You could talk with someone higher up if the teacher doesn't want to help you and ask to get your class changed to another time.

REMEMBER IF YOU DON'T LET SOMEONE IN CHARGE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON, THEY WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING WHILE IN CLASS. SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THE TEACHER KNOWS THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

I wish you luck and hope these suggestions helped solve your problems.
