Hi Jeannette! I come from a long line of truck drivers, though I'm not a truck driver myself. My dad is actually a CDL course instructor and tester. The truckers in my family have often said they enjoy traveling around the country and the long moments of solitude you have on the road. They've said it's peaceful and nice to just enjoy thinking and listening to music while on the road. One of my best friends is also a CDL trucker and enjoys the crews she often travels with in a convoy, often getting to see familiar faces while on the road. There is a high demand for CDL truckers at the moment and the starting salary is quite high which is a huge perk. I will advise you, though, that the road can get lonely (depending on what type of gigs you get as a trucker) and you can sometimes get lower back issues from sitting for long periods of time across long distances. It is also very dangerous, so you should take any CDL training and licensing very seriously. It is work better suited for single people as it is hard to retain relationships while on the road for long periods of time away from loved ones and family. My dad was a truck driver when he was younger, but moved to become owning his own trucking business at one point and as an instructor now so he could be home more often instead of away from family. Hope that helps!
