Hello! Not sure how your country operates but we have foreign exchange students from all over. It will cost more money to be an exchange student unfortunately than if you were a citizen of the same state you want to go to school in. Check out programs your schools might offer that may be a way to study, at least for a little while, in the US. Good luck

Hi Kim, community college is a great option to start getting classes out of the way with less cost. Then you can transfer to a university and only take the classes needed there for the cost. Also applying to financial aid and scholarships is very helpful (try not to take out loans unless really needed!) If you study abroad, I am unsure what your tuition would be, as opposed to living in the state you are going to college/university.

Hi Kim!
A more affordable route many students take in the US is to start at a community college (2 year college) that allows you to transfer into a larger University you want to get your degree from. You can take the lower level classes at a much more affordable community college, and then take your major-specific upper level classes at a 4-year University. Generally state and public universities are much more affordable than private universities, and you may be eligible for merit scholarships or grants to help offset the cost.
Best of luck!

Hi Kim! There are schools that vary in price. Private schools are most expensive, whereas public schools (state schools) are generally more affordable. There are resources available such as financial aid where you can be provided with grants or loans. Also, apply to any and every scholarships you come across. Finally, I would additionally highly recommend first going to a community college for your first two years then transferring to a four year as this will save you a great deal of money, and also you can still apply for financial aid as a student here.

Hello Kim!
Very exciting and so great you have a goal for the future! I recommend looking into colleges that have special programs or that allow you to study at a school through an extended study abroad from the Philippines.
The reason I suggest this is because I went to school at a private university (Boston University) and there international students paid full tuition without the opportunity for a scholarship. From what I understand this is very typical for private universities! Otherwise, I suggest looking into public schools in the states. Those tend to be cheaper overall and I do believe they provide more financial support to those studying abroad.
Something to note, schools in America are very expensive (unfortunately for everyone ): ) When I studied abroad in Spain, because I was attending an American program, I actually ended up paying more than Spaniards to be in the same class and school than they were! Therefore, I suspect a Philippines-based program that allows you to study in the states will be much cheaper than trying to attend directly from an American school.
I hope that is helpful and I definitely suggest looking into everything more!
Best of luck and I hope to run into you on the streets in America!
