I am delighted that you are interested in Computer Science. There are many different careers you can consider, e.g. Developer, Computer Engineer, System Administrator, Database Administrator, Application Support, System Support, etc.
In each of these categories, there are different sub categories as well, e.g. there are different types of developers like Web, Games, Apps, ERP, etc. You may need to explore more on each of these types to determine what you are interested in.
On the other hand, if you choose Computer Science as your major in the college, you will have acquire more understanding on different types of careers. You can explore more and find out what you are interested in.
Hence, you can choose those you are interested in and put more efforts in that aspect and start your career.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

The main career path for computer science students is usually software engineering. Software engineering can land you in a never-ending amount of industries. Banking, gaming, cybersecurity, social media, mobile, etc. There's also a large number of specialties when it comes to software engineering. Web development, mobile development, cloud computing, back-end development (servers and such), etc.
Outside of becoming a software engineer, you could go for a PHD and become a researcher and/or a professor.

My recommendation is to consider a career in computer security. There are tens of thousands of computer security jobs unfilled in the United States, and even more in other countries. A degree in computer science specializing in security, networking, operating systems, and software design, implementation, and testing would prepare you well!

It is fabulous that you are thinking about software engineering. This is an awesome area and has endless facets to offer for pursuing a career.
You can start as a beginner software developer, you will have to probably choose one or two languages for coding e.g., C++, Java, .Net, Angular, etc. You can learn coding some projects that become real commercial products. After a couple of years of experience, you can even become free lance software developer who works for himself but write Apps for apple, google, Microsoft platforms and or provides contracting services to other companies and clients. It is like an artist with a paint brush and a canvas, you can paint it multiple ways. Sky is the limit!
