What are some colleges that are strong in math, art, and science?

Hi, I'm a sophomore in high school, and I'm interested in math, art and science. I'm starting to think about what colleges I will want to apply to, and I was wondering what are some I may want to look at. Do you have any recommendations?

I'm not really sure about the size of the school I would like at the moment, but I do know that I would love if it were by or on the beach. I also don't really know whether I want to go to a private school or a public school, but I wouldn't want to go to a religious school.

Thanks in advance! #college #science #college-major #art #math

Hi Sage. There are thousands of colleges in America, so can you help us narrow it down a bit? We could give you an expensive private college in the woods in Maine, or a large public university in a big city in southern California... Help us narrow it down! Location, style, size, cost, competitiveness, etc. Or are you just looking for literally the BEST college in the world for math, for art, or for science? Because we can give you those answers. I suggest you edit your question using the "edit" button to clarify it a bit further. I think that will help!

Thank you comment icon Math and science I think of like MIT, Stanford, Ivy Leagues, all of the typical prestigious schools. I would suggest looking at liberal arts colleges like Harvey Mudd, the Claremont McKenna Schools etc because you typically don't have to declare a major very quickly so they're good to explore different career choices. It's wonderful that you have a broad range of interests encompassing mathematics, art, and science. When looking for top-notch colleges in these fields that are also conveniently located near the beach, consider a blend of both public and private schools. Here are some suggestions:

1. **University of California, San Diego (UCSD):**
- UCSD is a highly respected public university nestled near the stunning beaches of La Jolla, California. It boasts robust programs in both the sciences and arts, offering a variety of majors in mathematics, art, and several scientific disciplines.

2. **University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB):**
- UCSB is another campus in the UC system that enjoys a breathtaking coastal location. It offers superior programs in mathematics, engineering, and science, along with a thriving arts scene.

3. **University of Miami:**
- Situated in Coral Gables, Florida, the University of Miami combines strong science programs with a gorgeous beachside locale. It also features a highly regarded School of Architecture and Department of Art and Art History.

4. **University of Florida:**
- The University of Florida, located in Gainesville, is renowned for its robust science and mathematics programs. This public university offers a wide array of majors, including art.

5. **University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC):**
- UCSC is celebrated for its beautiful campus in the redwood forest and its close proximity to the beach. It provides robust programs in both the sciences and arts.

6. **University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA):**
- UCLA, situated in the bustling city of Los Angeles, offers superior programs in math and science. It also boasts a vibrant arts community, including the School of the Arts and Architecture.

7. **Pepperdine University:**
- Nestled in Malibu, California, Pepperdine boasts a scenic beachside campus. While it's affiliated with the Church of Christ, it's not a religious school. It offers robust programs in the sciences and a commendable fine arts program.

8. **Florida State University:**
- Florida State University, located in Tallahassee, offers robust programs in science and mathematics. While it's situated in northern Florida, it's still relatively close to the Gulf Coast beaches.

9. **University of Hawaii at Manoa:**
- If you're open to studying in Hawaii, the University of Hawaii at Manoa is located in a stunning tropical setting. It offers a range of science programs and an art program as well.

When evaluating colleges, make sure to thoroughly investigate each school, visit campuses if feasible, and delve into the specific programs and opportunities they offer in math, art, and science. Also, consider factors like campus size, financial aid availability, and extracurricular activities to find the best match for your academic and lifestyle needs.
