Hi Destiny!

Regardless of whichever career path you choose to take I believe there are 3 important things you need to achieve your goal. The first one would be values. Values are our judgments on what's important in life. What is your passion, what do you love and truly have a heart for. If you could do this specific task or job without getting paid to do it, will you still do it? If you can truly say yes to this, then you are on your way to making a difference and being successful. The second thing is skills. Skills are simply the ability to do something well. Skills are things you learn that enable you to perform well. In order to develop skill we must have the knowledge. When you begin any job they first have to train you. You have to learn about being a lawyer and what it takes to be a lawyer before you can become someone's lawyer . Then once you have what you need to know, you begin to apply your knowledge to develop the skills. Skills come with experience. Practice makes perfect. No one is perfect, so its imperative that we continue to practice what we love and exercise self development. If being a lawyer is what you are passionate about. GO FOR IT :). Stay in tune with that industry, read, volunteer, ask questions. You will really make a difference. Place no limits on your self.

I don't know if this is a true "stepping stone," but I think it's very helpful before going to law school to work in a different field for a few years. This could help save some money, as law school can be expensive, but it also can help you be more confident that you're choosing the right field when you decide to become a lawyer. A lot of people decide as undergrads that they want to go to law school, but it can be difficult to really know what other options are out there when you are still in school.
