what is a career that falls in the topic of drawing cartoons or animated characters

i'm interested in drawing cartoon or atleast animations and i was wondering is there a career for that and what is the name of them...THANK YOU #artist #arts-and-crafts #game-art

Thank you comment icon You can major in animation and simply become an animator...There are different concentrations within animation majors, including movie/cartoon and gaming art. Sometimes these majors are called video design. It depends on the school; look up some colleges and search their websites for 'animation' since the major titles change (but, the descriptions stay the same!). Jackie

Hello,
It sounds like you are interested in either illustrator or animator. Another good option would be graphic designer because it gives you experience with the computer marketing side of art.

I am not 100% sure but I believe it’s called cartoonist. There’s actually two different kinds: editorial cartoonist and the animation artist. An editorial cartoonist draws the cartoons that you see on newspapers. The animation artist works with graphics on computer software to either do the movies/tv you see or they can also work in the video game making process

Hello Raheem!


Though your question falls under the bigger category of graphic design I'd definitely suggest that you look into 2D animation. You will not only learn how to illustrate and draw cartoon characters but you will also get to animate them.


Another suggestion would be a class dedicated to Comic books. I'm taking one right now and I'm enjoying it very much.


I'd definitely take a look at what courses are offered having to do with these subjects in your area.
