Spruce’s Answer

The most important thing in selecting a job or a profession is that it be something you really enjoy because you'll be getting up every morning for years and you'll burn out quick if you don't love it. Having said that, you can help people in many ways and it does not have to be through your profession. Even a smile on your face and a skip in your gait will help someone get through a bad time.

Lindsey’s Answer

Hi Nikki,

I know some people that have double majors with accounting and psychology. Before you decide to pursue accounting, I would make sure accounting is something you are passionate about.

In terms of helping people, you can definitely do that with accounting. If you are a public accountant, you can help people financially plan and prepare their taxes. Another thing you can do is teach, and help students determine if accounting is for them or not. But I definitely think you need a passion for accounting to have a career in accounting that you enjoy.

Having a psychology degree will help you in accounting. You work with coworkers and clients every day and it is definitely helpful to be able to understand people.

I hope that helps.
