The 50 hours per week is a good estimate. However, it really depends if you are a small animal vet or a farm animal/equine vet. Many small animal vets have set office hours where an equine practice may have only one vet and one never knows when you will get an emergency call. In a group small animal practice you may even find part-time jobs. Also, there are so many other areas of vet medicine, that the hours are all over the map. If you work for a veterinary school or wild-life clinic, zoo etc, you will have also varied hours.

Hey Cassey!
Veterinarians typically work 50 or more hours a week according to this resource:

I think it also depends on the person. Vets typically do the job out of love for the animals and are fine with committing long hours. It also depends on the Vets position and the type of work they do. Some will drive out to farms or ranches to treat animals. So it really just depends. If you google search, you can find a bunch of other articles about the topic.
