How much money does an architect make a year?

I heard that an architect can make 120,000 dollars a year. Is that true? What is the average compensation? What is the entry-level compensation? What is the max compensation? #architecture

Thank you comment icon Hi Jalen. We usually ask students to post the questions, but let the Professionals answer them :) However, what you can do is something like "I heard that architects can make about 120,000 dollars per year. Is that true?" I'll change your question to reflect that, but please feel free to re-edit it in the future to add more information or clarify your question as you see fit! Jared Chung, Admin

Salaries vary from state to state. Best bet is to go to a job search site. Some of them have tools to help you figure out how much to ask for, so you should be able to get an idea from that.

W.’s Answer

Well... I make 42,000 and I have a master's degree, currently unlicensed though.

I live in the midwest.

If you're licensed you can make alot more but you'll be 30 by the time you can get licensed. Most likely.

Laura’s Answer

There are plenty of online resources Ws with salary information from US government to American institute of architects - and I think hey say by region. Here in the Midwest all the architects that I know who make more than $100,000 a year are over 50 years old and have been working for more than 30 years and are liscenced. There are many reasons to become an architect but great pay is NOT the main one.
