what are future trends for this field ?
i would like to know about this because it could be different depending on the position of the job

I believe that electric is the future of this field and both the motors and most accessories will be driven by electricity. Many car maker have pledged to be majority electric in the next 10 years.
There are two major parts, high voltage for the batteries/drivetrain (400-800V) and low voltage (12-24V). The high voltage area is growing fast since more cars are going electric. Currently, the low voltage systems are very similar between gas and electric cars so parts can be leverage between them. Most electric cars also have std. 12V batteries that power accessories just like regular gas cars while the high voltage battery powers the drive motors.
So my guess would be that high voltage expertise and experience would be in higher demand since it's newer and growing faster in the automotive sector.

Hi Andres,
it's my direct filed of expertise, however I am very interested in the topics of mobility. Here are a few ideas:
- growing popularity of electric cars. More and more countries are supporting the switch to electric - 17% of cars owned in Norway is already electrics. European Commission is advocating for 100% reduction of sales in emission cars by 2035. China and Japan have their own, ambitious plans. I think this will require reskilling and upskilling many mechanics to deal with new technologies
- autonomous vehicles - although we have not reached the highest, 5th level of automation where steering wheel is not required and there is no distinction between the driver or passenger, the progress in this area is monumental. It means new systems are build into the car: sensors, cameras, lidar, GPS and IMU the decision making is supported by AI-powered software. All the components will require maintenance and sometimes repair
- material innovation - some concept vehicles move away from steel, aluminium and carbon fiber and use plastics, technical textiles and resin. In can mean that bodywork will not equal to metalwork
Last but not least, there is so much going on in the filed of 3D printing. The technology is developing so rapidly, that I can imagine in the near future car parts to be printed on the site - no need to place order and wait for the spare parts. There are already a few electric concept cars with most or all the parts 3-d printed
